Today at InprOTech Human Capital we introduce you to Guillermo Álvarez, software developer at InprOTech.
WHAT IS YOUR ROLE WITHIN INPROSEC?
I started as a software developer, focusing to date on the development of SANTI I.A.’s proprietary technology, which is the basis of our InprOTech Guardian service. In a nutshell, InprOTech Guardian is a service that allows traffic monitoring and identification of potential attacks on OT networks. On the other hand, I also dedicate a small part of my time to other activities, such as social engineering (Phishing campaigns).
WHAT WOULD YOU HIGHLIGHT ABOUT YOUR ROLE WITHIN THE COMPANY?
Above all the critical nature when performing tasks or functions, always thinking if there could be a better solution. InprOTech has also given me the possibility to propose improvements even if their implementation can be complex. I would also highlight that I feel that I became a little more versatile, since as I mentioned before, I have the opportunity to perform different tasks, although always within the programming field.
WHAT HAS INPROTECH MEANT IN YOUR PROFESSIONAL CAREER?
It is an opportunity to get into the cybersecurity sector, and specifically industrial cybersecurity, which is a booming field, although still immature. Although I still have a long way to go, I feel that I have learned a lot during my time at InprOTech thanks to the whole team.
HOW DO YOU MANAGE TO BALANCE YOUR PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL LIFE?
Thanks to the fact that the company has different work-life balance mechanisms, it allows me to be flexible. This allows me to adapt my schedule to suit me, as I am a person who likes to work at night.
TELL US AN ANECDOTE THAT HAS CAUGHT YOUR ATTENTION ABOUT A SITUATION DURING YOUR TIME AT INPROTECH.
As an Argentinean and soccer fan I remember the chats with my colleagues as Argentina was advancing in the World Cup, I remember with special affection the entrance to the office on Monday after Argentina won the World Cup with everyone congratulating me, it was as if I had won it myself.
WHAT DO YOU VALUE MOST ABOUT WORKING IN A COMPANY LIKE INPROTECH?
My colleagues, the work environment is very good, and it makes the day-to-day work more bearable regardless of how intense the challenges may be. From the first day they have welcomed me with open arms and it is a pleasure to work with them. Within this good atmosphere, the great availability of everyone to help you in any matter stands out.
AS AN EMPLOYEE OF A COMPANY SPECIALIZING IN CYBERSECURITY, WHAT IS YOUR ADVICE TO ANY ENTREPRENEUR WHO IS STARTING OUT WITH RESPECT TO THEIR SYSTEMS?
One piece of advice could be that no matter how good your systems are, the weakest point is the people, so…spend time and effort on your training.
WHAT ARE YOUR HOBBIES AT THE END OF THE WORKING DAY?
Doing sports, right now I am doing less than I would like, but time to time. I’m slowly getting back into it thanks to the pachangas we do in the Inprosec team. I also enjoy meeting people to chat about the day to day or a good meal.
WHO DO YOU “NOMINATE” TO BE INTERVIEWED NEXT AND WHY?
Noelia Álvarez Costas, a SAP colleague who I’m sure has interesting things to say.
