Conxemar 2024 summary

Events

This year, our company had the pleasure of once again attending the International Frozen Seafood Products Fair (Conxemar), held from October 1st to 3rd at the IFEVI Exhibition Center in Vigo. This edition was particularly special, as it marked the XXV edition of the fair, bringing together the main players in the sector to discuss the current challenges and opportunities in the fishing industry, with a key focus on sustainability. Our colleagues Paula Callero and Estefanía Vaquero represented our company at this important event, exploring the latest technological, sustainable, and security trends in the sector. During their visit, they connected with key companies in the industry, exploring collaboration opportunities to improve efficiency and security in the fishing supply chain.

In addition to the importance of sustainability, a critical topic we identified during Wednesday’s session was the increasing digitalization of operations in the fishing industry and how this transformation brings a greater need for cybersecurity. In a sector that handles sensitive data and critical operational networks, regulations like NIS2 (Network and Information Security Directive) are playing a key role. This directive, which regulates cybersecurity in essential sectors, is starting to have a significant impact on the fishing industry, which needs to protect its infrastructure from growing threats.

The implementation of NIS2 and other robust security frameworks is essential to ensure operational continuity and protect sensitive data, from supply chain management to the traceability of seafood products. Adopting these measures is crucial for fishing companies to operate safely and efficiently, ensuring a more secure environment for their operations and users.

Conxemar 2024 once again proved to be a key meeting point for innovation, sustainability, and security in the fishing sector. As a Galician company, we are proud to participate in an event of this magnitude, which boosts both our region and the global industry. We are convinced that the combination of advanced technology, cybersecurity, and sustainable management will be key to the future of the sector, and we are committed to supporting fishing companies in successfully facing these challenges.
