The eighth edition of the Conference on Technology and Solutions for Industrial Automation (JAI), organized by the University of Vigo, was held from November 14 to 18. During these 5 days, the aim is to highlight the latest technologies, solutions and trends in the field of industrial process engineering.
On behalf of InprOTech, Ibán Morillo, our Managing Director, and Karina Basalo, our Key Account Manager, attended the CUVI. They were able to attend the various presentations and round tables that took place in the auditorium of the School of Telecommunications (two moderated by ISA Spain and two by AER Automation). In which discussions were held on different topics such as cybersecurity, predictive maintenance, mobile robotics and vision and artificial intelligence.
We would like to highlight the Cybersecurity round table, moderated by Mr. David Marco (Iberia OT Security Lead, ACCENTURE) in which participated:
- D. Josep Albors (Head of Research and Awareness, ESET).
- D. Mr. Antonio Fernandes (Cybersecurity Manager – CISO, FINSA)
- Ms. Belén Pérez (CISO, NUEVA PESCANOVA Group)
- D. Agustín Valencia (OT/ICS/IoT Security Business Development, FORTINET)
During the same, they analyzed the new challenges faced by the industry in relation to cybersecurity and all the possible threats to which many factories are exposed. In addition, Ibán Morillo gave a presentation together with our colleagues from Tecdesoft on Digitalization and Cybersecurity in Industry, in which they highlighted the importance of having continuous monitoring in manufacturing plants to avoid possible attacks that force the factory’s production lines to stop, causing serious consequences.
In addition, the event was completed with a small technology fair in face-to-face format, known as “Industrial Showroom 4.0“. More than 20 companies presented and demonstrated the operation of their latest technology. In the area called “Robotic Showroom”, some of the most advanced social, playful, mobile, industrial, collaborative and sensitive robots on the market were present.
For yet another year, the JAI brought the University of Vigo to the most advanced and innovative technology applied to industrial automation. From the presentations that talked about the importance of continuous improvement in production processes to make companies more competitive and prepared to take on the new challenges of globalization, as well as the need to be prepared to mitigate the risks of cyber-attacks, emphasizing the differentiation of IT environments with OT environments, using digital systems.
We hope to return to the next edition of an event that puts Vigo on the map as a reference in the automated industry sector.
