Inprotech People&Talent: Jorge Mario Pérez Bac

Interviews

We’re resuming our interview series to introduce you to the talent that makes up InprOTech. Today we speak with Jorge Mario Pérez Bac, a software developer on our team. Join us to learn more about his experience at the company.

What is your role at Inprotech?

My position is Software Developer within InprOTech, the technology division of Inprosec focused on OT cybersecurity. My main function is software development, with a special focus on deployment automation and optimization, as well as implementing new features, fixing bugs, and carrying out the usual tasks within the development lifecycle.

What would you highlight about Inprotech as a company?

I would highlight that we are in a growth process both nationally and internationally within the OT cybersecurity space. In this context, I consider deployment automation and the continuous improvement of our products to be key, as it allows our partners and clients to get solutions up and running in a more agile, efficient, and scalable way. It’s a moment when this kind of work delivers especially relevant value.

What has Inprotech meant for your professional career?

Inprotech has been an important and very valuable stage in my professional career. It has allowed me to focus fully on the field of cybersecurity, specifically in OT environments. Although I had previously worked in different technology areas where cybersecurity was present, here I am in a specialized environment, which allows me to go deeper and keep growing in this field.

How do you manage to balance your personal and professional life?

The hybrid work model helps quite a bit in this regard. By only coming into the office one day occasionally, I can make better use of the time I would normally spend commuting. This allows me to organize myself more efficiently day to day and find a better balance between my personal and professional life.

Tell us an anecdote that happened to you at Inprotech

One experience I remember with particular fondness was the company anniversary day. We went on a catamaran trip along the Ría de Vigo to visit the mussel rafts. We had the opportunity to see, through an underwater drone, the ecosystem that forms around them: the seabed, various species, and among them, a seahorse. It was a different kind of activity, very interesting, and a great opportunity to spend time with the team.

What do you value most about working at a company like Inprotech?

What I value most is the people. I would highlight the expertise, experience, and commitment of the individuals who are part of the company. It’s also an environment that encourages continuous learning, where new ideas are heard and their development is supported, which is very motivating.

As an employee of a company specializing in cybersecurity, what is your advice for any entrepreneur just getting started with regard to their systems?

My advice would be to start with common sense: take the time to analyze the company’s assets, understand their implications and the associated risks. From there, it’s important to establish a minimum security baseline and progressively strengthen systems as the business grows. Prevention and anticipation are always key.

What are your hobbies after the workday ends?

I enjoy going for walks or meeting friends who live nearby for dinner; we usually get together several times a week. Also, when the weather allows, I like to go fishing, whether at harbors or rocky spots. It’s a hobby I started a couple of years ago and really enjoy — and I think Galicia is a very beautiful place that’s especially well-suited for it.

Who do you “nominate” for us to interview next, and why?

I nominate Raúl Pérez López, because I think he can offer an interesting perspective and will likely have some great anecdotes to share 🙂
